Educate family, friends and
neighbors about pet theft and what they must do to keep their animals
safe.
-
Distribute literature on pet
theft in your community. Contact LCA for brochures.
-
Call people who have placed
“free to good home” ads in the paper and warn them about Class “B” dealers
and the pet theft problem.
-
Place an ad in the classified
section warning readers about “bunchers” and educating them about what
they can do to ensure their pet’s new home is a safe one.
-
If a stolen animal is
positively identified in a dealer’s possession, report it to LCA and to
USDA officials in your state. Ask that the dealer’s records be inspected.
